WELCOME ON BOARD THE WINGED SPIRIT!

WELCOME ON BOARD THE WINGED SPIRIT!

I have finally compiled a few photos to share of the Winged Spirit!
Welcome on board.

COLD DAYS IN JULY, ONLY IN A BLUE MOON.

COLD DAYS IN JULY, ONLY IN A BLUE MOON.

July first, our National Day to celebrate our beautiful country, was spent in St Peter's N.S. We arrived just in time to celebrate with the locals to great music and food. Celtic music is always in good taste here. Our four day journey to the beautiful Cape Breton Island was very cold but uneventful. So cold that winter gear was pretty well our daily choice of clothing. Unfortunately July did not come with its seasonal hot weather. Winds from the North just wanted to linger a little longer.
Fog, drizzle and rain was also in the weather spotlight until the very end of July. Being "just weather" it sure did not stop us to enjoy the majestic Bras D'Or Lake at it's best. How can anyone ever get tired of these beautiful highlands of green mountains where the ocean meets the land. Every cove, bay or inlet gets to be your very own find, your own little piece of paradise. It is a blessing and privilege to share these little nooks and crannies with some of the permanent wild life residing here, such as the magnificent soaring eagles that seems to welcome us in each cove we visit.
We returned to some of our favourite anchorages and discovered some new ones. At times by ourselves, at times with other boating friends. Connecting with boaters from our home port and making new ones along the way. Even encountered a women from my very own little village where I grew up, which I hadn't seen in more than 40 years. It was great to sail with her and her husband for a few days and reminisce about our younger years over a nice glass of red. Who would of thought that two little girls from a small village would one day be on a sailing vessels exploring this part of our country.
Sailing here is known as one of the top sailing destinations of the world. Your sailing waterscape goes from vast bodies of waters to narrow scenic passages, including historic channels and locks to swinging bridges.
Our stay here has been more than pleasant so far. Living in a small space is more than enough for both of us. It sure makes us wonder what in the hell we need a big house for. We are very contented on a 36 feet boat. We have learned to dance very well around the tight corners of the boat and that everything and everyone on board has its own place.
Sailing has became more comfortable for me and I truly enjoy living onboard that is for sure.
I have included a few photos, my favourite one, is the one of the blue moon that was captured on the 31st of July 2015, in the quiet little cove of Cribwork in the Malagawatch area. That evening was one of the first nice evening of the summer for us. I truly hope that a cold July like we just had, only comes in a blue moon. Enjoy!
