CANADIAN TOUR, 2018. LAND OF OUR ANCESTORS. June 23, 24, 2018.
Passing by the land of our ancestors, on our Canadian Tour, 2018: First, "Le Pays de la Saguine". I am the proud grand daughter of Albert Sawyer Jaillet and Eulalie Cormier formally of Bouctouche NB., with a photo of L'Isle aux Puces.
Then to Cambellton, NB, Jean-Paul's home town, where we still get very much moved, by its picturesque scenery, cradled in the Appalachian Mountains.
Lastly, my very own village where I grew up, Pointe à la Croix, Qc, National Historic Site of the Battle of Restigouche. I had a nostalgic walk with my sister Denise across the Interprovincial Bridge, just like we did when young girls, in other to go to a movie at the local theatre. From door to door, 2.7 Kilometres.
Berthelot Street, where I grew up, at the corner of Boulevard International. The whole street was once my paternal grandfather's land. To my surprise, I found my grandfather's house barely standing and still lived in.
I was very disappointed to find my father's house repainted in a horrible yellow mustard color, trimmed in a dark navy blue, by the present owner. I did look very hard for the pond and small chanel where we relentlessly played in as young children, to only find traces, of a once wet land area. Gone are my cat tails, muskrats, ducks and frogs.
